Thulin English
Expert editing for academics
Services
Presentation matters. Even the best academic research can fail to get published or funded if it isn't clearly conveyed. For non-native English speakers, working with a native English-speaking editor is essential.
Kate Thulin has well over a decade of experience editing academic research, including books published by Oxford University Press, articles published in the American Journal of Political Science, and grant proposals for the European Research Council, among many others.

Kate specializes in political science, but accepts clients from all humanities and social sciences disciplines.
Academic Journal Articles
Journal articles receive a thorough copyedit, which focuses on sentence structure and clarity of argument in addition to grammar, spelling (US or UK English), and stylistic consistency. Edits are made to conform with the journal's style guide when requested, and include reference formatting and cross-checking.
Books & Book Chapters
Like journal articles, book manuscripts are edited for grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and clarity of argument. Edits are made to adhere to the publisher's style guide and specifications, and reference formatting and cross-checking are included.
Grant Applications
As research grants become increasingly competitive, having a persuasive proposal narrative is critical. Editing for grant applications includes standard language, grammar, and clarity assistance, but also helps researchers hone their "sales pitch." Edits and comments are made with close reference to the relevant call, and special attention is paid to structure, persuasiveness, and flow.
